Small farms. Big flavour.
Ancient Forest Farms
Stephanie and Scott - Central interior
Ancient Forest Farms is not your typical farm — it’s a wilderness operation.
We live and farm deep in British Columbia’s rare inland rainforest — the only one on Earth — where boreal spruce meets cedar and hemlock, surrounded by vast, untouched Rocky Mountain wilderness.
This is land that was never meant for conventional agriculture. Short seasons, dense underbrush, and -40°C winters demand a different approach: one that works with the ecosystem, not against it.
Wildlife isn’t fenced out here, it’s part of daily life. Bears, moose, elk, deer, wolves, lynx, and caribou all move through this landscape. Their presence is a direct reflection of how we steward the land.
Our roots run deep. Stephanie’s family were the first family to homestead here in the early 1900s, living off the land through hunting, trapping, and guiding. Cattle, when they were raised, lived much like wild animals and moved freely through the forest.
Today, we're building on that legacy and following natural systems using rotational grazing and silvopasture, which allows cattle to graze grasses, browse shrubs, and live within the forest itself. Our goal is to produce exceptional food while keeping this place wild.
This is beef raised in one of the most remote and intact ecosystems in British Columbia. And we intend to keep it that way.
Chinook Farms
Christine - Southern interior
Chinook Farms sits high on the slopes of Boulder Mountain in Barriere, BC, a tight-knit community rooted in tradition and multi-generational farms.
But this farm isn’t on the valley floor.
Perched high above the Thompson River, it feels more like an alpine hillside farm than typical Interior BC farmland, with sweeping views across the valley and wilderness stretching for miles above.
Christine was born on this mountain. After years away raising her family and building community as a social entrepreneur, she returned to her roots to farm, steward the land, and raise animals the way she believes they should be raised.
Chinook Farms is a thoughtful mix of open pasture and forested silvopasture, where animals move through both grass and trees. Alongside the cattle herd shared with Ancient Forest Farms, it's home to chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs, horses, and bees, making it a true small-scale polyculture.
More than anything, it's a farm built on care — for animals, for land, and for community.
“Thank you for supporting local farmers and the work we love!”
